Indian textile manufacturer Prestige Denim Mills is set to invest US $20 million in a new denim fabric production facility in Egypt’s West Qantara Industrial Zone, according to the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE). The project marks the first Indian investment in the industrial zone and is expected to strengthen Egypt’s position as a regional textile manufacturing hub.

The facility will be developed on a 100,000-square-metre site and is projected to create around 1,000 direct jobs. Once operational, the plant will have the capacity to produce up to 20 million metres of denim fabric annually.

According to SCZONE, the integrated manufacturing facility will include weaving, dyeing and finishing operations. Approximately 70% of production will be exported to international markets, while the remaining output will be supplied to the domestic market.

The investment agreement was signed at SCZONE headquarters in Egypt’s New Administrative Capital in the presence of SCZONE Chairman Waleid Gamal El-Dien.

Gamal El-Dien described the project as the first Indian investment in the West Qantara Industrial Zone and said it builds on the success of Indian investments elsewhere within the Suez Canal Economic Zone. He noted that ongoing infrastructure development and industrial expansion initiatives had played a key role in attracting textile and garment manufacturers to the zone.

SCZONE stated that cumulative investments in textile and ready-made garment projects in the West Qantara Industrial Zone have now exceeded $1 billion, highlighting the area’s growing importance as a manufacturing destination for the sector.
