The Rajasthan government  has set up a state-level dedicated textile cell to strengthen its textile industry and boost exports, with the state aiming to increase textile and apparel exports from the current Rs 13,500 crore by three to four times.

The initiative is part of the implementation of the Rajasthan Textile and Apparel Policy-2025, under which textiles have been designated as a thrust sector eligible for additional incentives under the Rajasthan Investment Promotion Scheme (RIPS).

The dedicated textile cell will work to promote textile manufacturing, support exports and facilitate the adoption of new technologies across the sector.

In 2024-25, Rajasthan’s total exports stood at over Rs 97,171 crore, of which textiles and related sectors contributed around Rs 13,500 crore, accounting for more than 13%.

The state currently has over 1,800 textile and apparel units. Rajasthan is the country’s largest wool producer and ranks fifth in cotton production, contributing about 47%. The state is globally recognised for its traditional textiles, hand block printing and other heritage crafts.

To strengthen export competitiveness, Rajasthan has prepared textile export plans for 11 districts, including seven champion districts Ajmer, Bhilwara, Jaipur, Banswara, Chittorgarh, Jodhpur and Kota. Four aspirational districts identified by the Central Government Sri Ganganagar, Hanumangarh, Nagaur and Churu have also been included in the strategy.

The state is also planning to organise a two-day textile summit in October, bringing together textile manufacturers, exporters and industry stakeholders from India and overseas.
