State govt decides to complete Mega Textile Park under PM Mitra project

KalaburagiThe state govt has decided to complete the ambitious Mega Textile Park under the ‘PM MITRA project‘, announced by chief minister Siddaramaiah in this budget.

Minister Priyank Kharge said that the department of handlooms and textiles has been instructed to immediately revise the detailed plan report (DPR), including external infrastructure works of Kalaburagi Park, and submit it to the project approval committee (PAC), Govt of India.

Industries minister MB Patil, Kalaburagi district minister and rural development and panchayat raj minister Priyank Kharge, this decision was taken at a progress review meeting under the leadership of state chief secretary Shalini Rajneesh.

In the meeting, principal secretary of the department of industry and commerce, S Selvakumar, textile department secretary Rohini Sindhuri, KSIIDC managing director Khushbu Ghoyal Chaudhary, textile department commissioner KB Basavaraj, KIADB CEO Govindarreddy and others participated, said Priyank Kharge.

The meeting discussed the immediate initiation of the first phase of development works of the park by KIADB. After the implementation of the first phase, the second phase of the work will also start on the basis of job creation and investment volume.

30% of the total project cost under the Central Govt‘s ‘Development Capital Support’ (DCS) scheme, up to a maximum of Rs 500 crore, will be available. The minister informed that this grant will be used to develop internal infrastructure including road, water, electricity, waste water treatment plant (CETP), hostel.

To release the first instalment of funds for this massive textile park project, which will give a new direction to the economic growth of Kalaburagi district and provide employment opportunities to thousands, a minimum of Rs 25 crore will be provided by the state implementing agency.

Priyank Kharge said that authorities have been instructed to start the process of disbursing the amount for physical infrastructure development.
