Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday launched and laid the foundation stone for a series of infrastructure and industrial projects worth nearly Rs 9,400 crore in Telangana, pitching the state as a key driver of India’s manufacturing and connectivity ambitions.

The event, held at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC), was attended by Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, Union Minister G Kishan Reddy and other senior leaders.

Among the major projects unveiled were the four-laning of National Highway-167 between Gudebellur and Mahabubnagar as part of the Hyderabad–Panaji Economic Corridor, and the development of the Zaheerabad Industrial Area in Sangareddy district.

The prime minister also flagged off several railway and logistics projects, including sections of the Kazipet–Vijayawada rail multi-tracking corridor, the Kazipet Rail Under Rail Bypass, and a new Greenfield Petroleum, Oil and Lubricants (POL) terminal in Hyderabad.

However, the major highlight of the programme was the inauguration of the PM MITRA Park in Warangal, also known as the Kakatiya Mega Textile Park. Built at an estimated cost of around Rs 1,700 crore, it is the country’s first fully operational PM MITRA Park and is aimed at creating an integrated textile ecosystem under the Centre’s “5F” vision - spanning farm, fibre, factory, fashion and foreign markets.

Addressing the gathering, PM Modi said India’s textile sector had once been central to the country’s economic strength and was now being positioned for a fresh wave of expansion.

“There was a time when India stood among the world’s leading economies and the textile industry was one of the strongest pillars of that growth story. Today, we are rebuilding that strength,” the prime minister said.

He added that the Warangal PM MITRA Park would give fresh momentum to the country’s textile industry, with units in the park set to benefit from multiple central government schemes aimed at boosting manufacturing and exports.
