KARL MAYER reported a successful participation at Techtextil 2026, reinforcing its position as a key innovation partner in the technical textiles sector. Held from April 21 to 24 in Frankfurt am Main, the event provided a platform for the company to engage with global customers, strengthen partnerships and present its latest technological developments.

The company attracted strong visitor interest, particularly during the opening days of the exhibition, with attendees primarily from Germany as well as key international markets including Poland, the United Kingdom, Turkey, France and Portugal. The KARL MAYER booth served as a hub for in-depth technical discussions, new business explorations and future project collaborations.

A major highlight was the presentation of innovative applications in sports footwear, composite materials and performance warp knits, demonstrating the versatility of warp knitting technology across a wide range of technical textile segments. Visitors engaged in detailed exchanges on technological advancements and emerging opportunities, reflecting a growing focus on innovation-led growth within the industry.

“Some of our customers are very actively driving innovation forward. We have held promising discussions regarding specific projects, which we can support efficiently through our new Textile Innovation Center,” said Hagen Lotzmann, President of the Technical Textiles Business Unit.

The discussions at the event highlighted the expanding scope of technical textiles, with applications spanning aerospace, defense, construction, apparel and industrial uses. KARL MAYER’s technologies are being used in high-performance areas such as satellite components, protective gear, construction reinforcements and advanced footwear fabrics.

Sustainability and material innovation also emerged as key focus areas. The company is collaborating with Lenzing to process TENCEL™ Lyocell and Modal fibres using advanced warp knitting technologies, catering to both apparel and home textile applications. Additionally, developments in woven-like warp knits for corporate and workwear are offering enhanced comfort, durability and easy-care properties.

In the footwear segment, new jacquard double-needle-bar raschel technologies are enabling advanced mesh structures for sports and athleisure shoes, combining design flexibility with high production efficiency. Meanwhile, innovations in shade net manufacturing, showcased through the RS 2 NET machine, attracted strong attention for their productivity advantages.

The company also highlighted advancements in functional apparel. At the “Performance Apparel on Stage” segment of Techtextil, a jacket made from dense sun-protective warp knit fabric demonstrated superior UV protection—more than twice that of comparable circular knits—achieved purely through fabric structure without additional finishing. The fabric also offered a combination of lightweight feel, breathability and cooling comfort.

Alongside its exhibition presence, KARL MAYER hosted visitors at its newly opened Textile Innovation Center in Obertshausen, providing further insights into its latest developments and strengthening customer engagement.

Despite a cautious overall industry sentiment amid ongoing geopolitical challenges, the strong level of engagement and project-driven discussions at Techtextil 2026 underscored continued momentum in innovation and application development within the technical textiles sector.
