Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually inaugurate the PM MITRA Mega Textile Park in Warangal, Hyderabad on 10th May, a move expected to boost manufacturing, employment, and exports.

Spread across 1,327 acres, the park is one of India’s largest textile parks and has been selected under the PM MITRA (Pradhan Mantri Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel) Scheme as a Brownfield Mega Textile Park.

The textile park is expected to generate more than 24,400 jobs upon full operationalisation with 2,000 jobs already created. With its strategic location, plug-and-play facilities, and integrated ecosystem, the KMTP is set to become a major driver of textile manufacturing and employment in the state.

The total cost of the project is Rs. 1,695.54 crore (US $178 million) while the expected investment is more than Rs. 6,000 crore (US $632 million) and the grounded investment is more than Rs. 3,800 crore (US $400 million).

The textile park has already received investments from prominent textile and apparel companies. For instance, Kitex Garments has commenced commercial production at its unit in the park, with plans to scale up output to 1.1 million garments per day and expand globally. The company has made an investment of US $190 million in the park.

Among other investors, Youngone Corporation has committed US $120 million, while Kitex while Ganesha Ecosphere is also investing US $107 million, underscoring strong industry interest in the park.

Union Coal Minister G. Kishan Reddy noted that 62% of the park area has already been allotted to anchor investors, while internal infrastructure, including roads, water supply, and street lighting have been completed and the 232/132/33 KV power substation and 220 KV transmission line are nearing completion.

He further emphasised that the construction of a 12 MLD water supply system is at an advanced stage, while phase I of the five MLD CETP with Zero Liquid Discharge is undergoing a trial run.

Under the leadership of the Prime Minister, the Central government continues to strengthen the country’s industrial infrastructure and position India as a global textile powerhouse.
