Aditya Birla Group presents unified technical textiles portfolio for global markets

The Aditya Birla Group, a US$67-billion global conglomerate headquartered in Mumbai, India, showcased its technical textiles capabilities at Techtextil 2026 in Frankfurt. The presentation focused on the Group’s integrated portfolio and its approach to high-performance textile applications.

The Group’s participation reflects its transition from a US$5 billion textile-focused business to a solutions-oriented platform addressing performance-driven and safety-critical applications. It also indicates alignment with global standards, innovation cycles, and sustainability requirements.

India is currently the 5th largest technical textiles market globally, growing at a CAGR of 7.6%. Growth is supported by domestic demand, export diversification, and increased use across sectors including manufacturing, transportation, construction, renewable energy, and medical care. Investments in manufacturing, research and development, process automation, and skill development are contributing to this expansion.

Mr. Kapil Agrawal, Business Head - Textiles, Thai Acrylic Fibre and Overseas Spinning, Aditya Birla Group, said,
“The global technical textiles market is evolving rapidly, and customers today are seeking partners who can combine innovation, scale, and reliability. Existing depth in upstream fibre chemistry, spinning capability, and integrated manufacturing makes India a compelling proposition for global buyers. Our participation in Techtextil 2026 reflects the progress India has made in advanced manufacturing and our commitment to serving global markets as a one-stop solution provider.”

At the event, the Group brought together four businesses—Aditya Birla Yarn, Century Enka, Birla Cellulose, and Viscose Filament Yarn—under a unified platform titled ‘One ABG Technical Textiles’. This integration represents a shift toward offering combined solutions rather than operating as separate material suppliers.

Under this platform, the Group showcased application-focused segments including MobilTech, ProTech, InduTech, HomeTech, and GeoTech. These segments address requirements across multiple industries and reflect broader developments within the global technical textiles sector, including supply chain adjustments and sustainability considerations.

Mr Agrawal added,
“Our vision is to be a globally influential, innovation-led partner that sets new benchmarks for performance, responsibility, and excellence in technical textiles.”

Europe remains a key market for technical textiles, driven by demand for materials meeting performance, regulatory, and environmental standards. The Group’s presence at Techtextil Frankfurt reflects its ongoing engagement with European markets and industry stakeholders.
