Indonesia is leveraging its integrated textile ecosystem to strengthen both domestic supply and export competitiveness, with shipments projected to grow 3.55% year-on-year to US$12.08 billion in 2025, stated Trade Minister Budi Santoso.

Speaking on the sidelines of Indo Intertex 2026 at the Jakarta International Expo, the minister highlighted that Indonesia’s textile and textile products (TPT) sector benefits from a comprehensive value chain spanning raw materials, manufacturing, distribution, designers and MSMEs.

He noted that strong product quality and competitiveness are enabling the industry to cater to domestic demand while also managing import pressures. The sector is expected to generate a trade surplus of US$3.45 billion in 2025.

Indonesia’s textile outlook is further supported by trade engagements with key markets such as the United States and the European Union. Data from the Central Statistics Agency showed that the country’s trade surplus with the US rose to US$ 3.53 billion in January–February 2026, compared to US$ 2.63 billion in the year-ago period.

The US remains Indonesia’s largest surplus market, driven by exports of electronics, textiles and footwear. The government is also pursuing the Agreement on Reciprocal Trade (ART) to sustain its market share, which accounts for around 11% of Indonesia’s global exports.

With a well-integrated ecosystem and expanding trade partnerships, Indonesia’s textile industry is positioned to remain competitive globally despite ongoing geopolitical uncertainties.
