Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT-Textiles) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the International Fashion Business Exchange Council (IFBEC) to collaborate on translational research in textile waste treatment and utilisation.

The partnership aims to address the rising industry demand for circularity in textiles by focusing on sustainable waste management solutions and resource optimisation. Through this industry–institute collaboration, both entities will work towards developing practical frameworks, policies and processes that can support a more sustainable and circular textile ecosystem.

The association is also expected to create a platform for industry stakeholders to actively contribute to shaping pathways for sustainability, while bridging the gap between academic research and real-world application.

As part of the initiative, students at ICT will gain hands-on exposure through research projects and opportunities to develop industry-relevant solutions, strengthening their engagement with emerging challenges in textile sustainability.
