Tamil Nadu has introduced the Tamil Nadu Technical Textiles Mission (T3 Mission) as part of the State Budget 2025–26 to strengthen its presence in high-value textile manufacturing. The initiative, with an allocation of ₹15 crore, is aimed at supporting technical textile production and attracting new investments. It is being implemented by the Department of Textiles, Government of Tamil Nadu.

The Government of Tamil Nadu has initiated the Tamil Nadu Technical Textiles Mission (T3 Mission) to support the growth of technical textiles in the state. Announced in the State Budget 2025–26, the programme has an outlay of ₹15 crore and is being executed by the Department of Textiles.

The mission is designed as an industry-focused programme supported by a dedicated Project Management Team (PMT) at the Directorate of Textiles. The PMT is assisted by a group of national and international technical consultants, providing structured support across the project lifecycle, from initial planning to commissioning. The initiative is open to both new and existing textile units seeking to diversify into technical textiles.

During the initial phase, the Department conducted outreach sessions across major textile clusters, including Tirupur, Karur, Madurai, and Salem. These sessions aimed to increase awareness and engagement with industry stakeholders. Several participants have begun exploring opportunities in technical textiles with guidance from empanelled consultants.

In the second phase, the mission introduces financial assistance for eligible units. The scheme provides support covering 50% of the end-to-end technical support fee, with a maximum limit of ₹50 lakh per unit. The disbursement is structured in stages based on project milestones.

The Department of Textiles is also organising a Government-cum-Industry delegation to Techtextil Frankfurt 2026, scheduled from April 21–24, 2026, in Frankfurt, Germany. Around 10 entrepreneurs are expected to participate in the visit, which will provide exposure to international technologies, product developments, and market trends, along with opportunities for interaction with global manufacturers.

In addition, the mission is encouraging international collaborations, including joint venture opportunities with companies from Taiwan in segments such as activewear, athleisure, nonwovens, and footwear.

The T3 Mission is part of broader efforts to support innovation, facilitate investments, and expand export capabilities within Tamil Nadu’s textile sector, with a focus on technical textiles.
