New Delhi & Bentonville, June 19, 2025 – Walmart Vriddhi, the supplier development initiative by Walmart, has partnered with Ideas to Impact Foundation (i2i) to empower an additional 100,000 MSMEs across India by 2028. Since 2019, the program has already trained over 70,000 micro, small, and medium enterprises, helping them access digital tools, business mentorship, and new markets to support modern, scalable, and sustainable growth.

The initiative equips MSMEs with knowledge in finance, marketing, environmental sustainability, and workforce management through digital learning, personalized guidance, and free tools. These efforts are aimed at enabling participation in national and international markets, including Walmart Marketplace and Flipkart, supported by Walmart’s global supply chain experience and Flipkart’s extensive eCommerce infrastructure.

Jason Fremstad, Senior Vice President, Supplier Development, Walmart, said, “We are constantly inspired by India’s vibrant innovation ecosystem and the growth potential of its MSMEs. Many micro enterprises face difficulties in securing the knowledge, tools and market access they need to thrive. Empowering these entrepreneurs with critical business skills and market access has helped them to build and scale their business sustainably, and contribute to India's economic growth story.”

He added, “As we enter the next phase of Walmart Vriddhi, we’re empowering MSMEs with new tools for digital growth, sustainability and export readiness, and we continue to provide these for free. Through the Walmart Supplier Academy’s eLearning modules and new ecosystem partnerships, we’re going beyond skilling to enable businesses to sell through Walmart Marketplace and Flipkart.”

Rajneesh Kumar, SVP and Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, Flipkart Group, noted, “Our unwavering commitment at Flipkart is to empower MSMEs by democratizing access to digital commerce and vast growth opportunities. Through strategic collaborations like Walmart Vriddhi, we are collectively enabling entrepreneurs to scale their aspirations and significantly contribute to India's burgeoning digital economy.”

In addition to domestic skilling, Walmart Vriddhi supports cross-border trade by integrating small businesses into global supply chains. MSMEs can now access training and onboarding through a newly consolidated online platform, which includes resources from Walmart, Flipkart, and Myntra.

Walmart has also signed an MoU with the Haryana government to support outreach and expansion of the program and is exploring similar collaborations in other states. Inspired by its success in India, Walmart has launched similar programs globally, including Crece con Walmart in Mexico and Grow with US in the United States.
