BTRA Marks 72nd Foundation Day with Focus on Innovation and Sustainability

The 72nd Annual Foundation Day of Bombay Textile Research Association marked an important milestone in India’s textile industry, reflecting its continued contribution to innovation and research.

The following is the speech by Avinash Misar

It was a proud moment for me to attend the 72nd Annual Foundation Day of BTRA. on 21st April 2026

BTRA has been the lifeline of the Textile Industry for continual Growth, Innovation & Sustainability of Textile business in India

The Innovation in BTRA with 56 Patents under it's belt has been of par excellence meeting World Class Standards. Its Testing Standards too has been remarkably high

Leadership of BTRA Director a eminent Technologist & Scientist Dr. Shree Kumar has evolved BTRA stupendously.

The Research & Development in the field of Carbon Fibre has been a Giant Contribution by Dr Sreekumar & Team towards the Hon PM's Atma Nirbhar Bharat Mission Development of Carbon Fibre precursor & now the initiation of Carbon Fibre manufacturing under PPP model is a big boon for the Defence Industry towards it's needs for Strong & Able Nation.

Being a part of Foundation Day of such an Incredible Organisation is indeed matter of Pride.

The event was inaugurated by the Honourable Minister of Textiles, Govt. Of Maharashtra, Shri .Sanjay Savkare ji.

Further, it was honoured by the presence of Deputy Secretary Textiles, Govt. of Maharashtra - Mr.Pawar, Emminent & Illustrious personalities Mr.Mohan Kavrie, Chairman Supreme Non-woven Industries, Mr.R D Udeshi, President - Reliance Industries Dr.Gurudas Aras, an eminent Textile Strategist & many Industry stalwarts, who have always been strong well wisher of BTRA.

ITTA - Indian Technical Textiles Association,the flagship industry body of Technical Textiles has always been proud to be associated with BTRA in multiple areas of co-operation for the benefit of Technical Textiles.

We wish BTRA great times ahead in shaping India’s Textile Industry in the coming digitised and AI driven fast paced economy.
